As the name entails, Gusto Pizza is a pizza eatery located at: 1905 Ingersoll Avenue. They just recently opened earlier this year, and since we love pizza...we had to give them a try. Check them out at http://gustopizzaco.com/
The Place:
We didn't have a lot of time to spend there as Ryan had to rush to MBA class but the pizza was pretty delicious. We were impressed with the restaurant atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, the seating looked modern, they featured patio seating and they had a couple of nice TVs for watching sports. When you walk into the restaurant, you will order at the counter from a large menu of signature Gusto menu items. The friendly staff will bring your food to your table whether you choose to sit inside or on their patio. One note about this eatery is that it is more on the "nicer" side than just your average pizza joint. Here you pay a little more for higher quality ingredients, but it is definitely worth it!

The Food:
We ordered "The Duke" which is a BBQ pizza. As you can see from the picture, we chose a good one. It is a thin crust pizza which appeared to be a stone oven style (similar to Centro's). We both loved the quality of the brisket and the taste of the veggies and BBQ sauce. The crust was also crispy and flavorful. It is a thinner pizza so if you are really hungry, make sure to order the larger sized pizza. They also offer a large wine and beer selection so we may be coming back for drinks soon.
Final take:
Gusto Pizza is one of the new hot spots in Des Moines that we recommend you check out. It has an urban vibe that should attract younger people, but it is also very family friendly. Pizza is not the only thing they have so if there is someone with you who doesn't like pizza (is there someone who doesn't like pizza?) then there are other options. We enjoyed the food, friendly staff, and the creative menu. Check them out!
